Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert)

Chapter 196

"Wait, what... she's pregnant? Man, I even got her a psychiatric certificate!"

Chris was on the verge of screaming. Sylvia had totally duped him!

"Spill it," Rupert said, pulling the phone away, his patience thinning.

"Look, with a threatened miscarriage, rest is crucial, same with diet. Definitely no overworking," Chris advised.

"Hmm."

"What's your plan? With her... situation. If this had come out when those rumors were flying, and she'd admitted to a night with you, you could've played the media into marrying her. Even your old man couldn't have said a thing. But she refused. Tell me, you were really hoping she'd cave under pressure from your dad, weren't you?"

Chris snickered mischievously.noveldrama

Rupert's eyes dropped slightly, "I'm hanging up."

"Wait, you can't just leave things unsaid, man. You've got to show your best side!"

"I did."

"What...?"

Beep beep beep.

Chris was left baffled on the other end of the line.

Showed his best side? In what way?

...

After the check-up, Rupert was escorting Fiona out of the hospital.

As they got into the car, Fiona said with a smile, "Rupert, thanks for taking the time."

He nodded politely, "Of course, anything you need, just let me know."

For a moment, Fiona's expression faltered, but she quickly smiled it off.

Turning to Sylvia, who looked a bit down, Fiona asked, "Sylvia, Rupert mentioned you weren't feeling well. Everything okay?"

Sylvia glanced at Rupert and shook her head, "I'm fine, probably just didn't sleep well last night and then got up early to grab some breakfast." "Breakfast?" Fiona seemed surprised.

Sylvia pulled out some takeout from her bag.

BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, Naomi's favorite.

Cinnamon rolls wrapped around bacon, something Edwin craved from time to time.

Fiona leaned in for a closer look and laughed, "Warren loves those too."

As soon as she said that, Sylvia felt a chill run down her spine as a cold gaze landed on her.

She quickly stuffed the breakfast items back into her bag, changing the subject, "Mrs. Fiona, what did the doctor say?"

"All good, nothing serious. I just can't

handle stress well. My health has always been a burden to Warren. Otherwise, at his age, he should've had a girlfriend by now."

"That's not true. Warren's such a great guy, he'll find the right person..." Sylvia's voice caught in her throat under his gaze, barely finishing her sentence.

Fiona held Sylvia's hand, smiling warmly, don't ask for much. If Warren could find someone as considerate and caring as you, that would be wonderful."

"Heh."

Sylvia gave a forced laugh, feeling as though she'd been pierced with two holes.

But wasn't Fiona usually against her being alone with Warren?

Maybe it was just pleasantries since she had accompanied Fiona to the hospital.

Finally, they arrived at the Garcia family home.

To her surprise, Naomi was already waiting outside.

As Sylvia got out of the car, Naomi greeted Fiona and Rupert first.

"Hello. Naomi, Sylvia was a big help today," Fiona thanked her warmly.

"It's nothing, let's head inside. Tristan's waiting to start dinner," Naomi motioned towards the house.

Fiona and Rupert nodded and went in.

Sylvia and Naomi lingered behind, with Sylvia puzzled, "I thought it was just us for dinner?"

Naomi frowned, "While I was waiting for you, Tristan and the others got back. Rupert mentioned going to the hospital to see Fiona, and Tristan said we should wait for you to have dinner together. He spoke up, so it's only polite to give our elders that respect."

"Right."

As they entered the dining room, everyone was already seated.
