Chapter 1615
Aiken pulled Wendy back immediately, his lips crashing onto hers in a heated kiss.
As the kiss deepened, Wendy felt her resolve begin to crumble. Her once firm decision wavered entirely. Aiken's voice broke through the haze of her thoughts. "I can give you everything except marriage. Come back to me."
Wendy opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, another kiss silenced her. Gradually, she lost herself in the moment, her control slipping away.noveldrama
And before she knew it, she had agreed.
It seemed that she and Aiken would forever be tangled in each other's lives.

At the entrance to the complex parking lot, Ruth and Jed crept cautiously, trying to blend in. The security guard, Lonnie Glover, immediately noticed them and stopped them in their tracks.
"You can't be here. This is for cars only," he said.
Ruth quickly thought on her feet. "We're homeowners here. We're just picking up our car."
She had to get in this was the only way to find out which floor Steven lived on. The property management was notoriously tight-lipped, refusing to disclose any details about the residents, no matter how much Jed asked.
So, the only solution was to sneak into the underground parking lot.
Once inside, they could locate Steven and Mona's car, follow the trail, and pinpoint Steven's apartment. That would solve everything. Lonnie eyed them with suspicion, clearly unconvinced by their story.
"Homeowners?" he scoffed. "I've never seen you around. Even if you are, you can't come in. Go back and use the elevator like everyone else." Ruth's patience ran out, and her voice grew sharp. "The car is right below us. Why should we go all the way back up just to come down again? It's a waste of time. You may not value your time, but every second of mine counts. You're just a security guard-why are you so involved?"
"Yeah, you're just a security guard. Mind your own business and stop sticking your nose into things where it doesn't belong. Get out of our way!" Jed shoved at Lonnie.
Fortunately, Lonnie was no amateur. He stood his ground without flinching.
Lonnie glared at them coldly. "Get lost! I don't believe a word you're saying. Our complex has high-end homeowners, not the likes of you two." "What did you say?" Jed's temper flared, and he took a step forward, ready to act.
Lonnie rolled his eyes. "If you keep causing trouble, I'll call the cops. Let them figure out what's going on with you two."
When they heard that Lonnie was about to call the police, they muttered angrily and stormed off, cursing under their breath. But they didn't go far.
They lingered near the complex. "It
seems like there aren't many
options. We'll have to strike when

she's alone," Jed said, his tone heavy with frustration after thinking for a
while, still no closer to a decent plan.

Ruth's expression darkened. "There's not much of an opportunity, but as they say, hard work pays off. We'll find a way. There's always an opening."
She narrowed her eyes, staring up at the luxurious complex.
This place was one of the most expensive properties in Jipsburg City, where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold.
Steven lived here, enjoying a lavish life, using his wealth to keep other women while Ruth hadn't seen a penny.
Since Steven wasn't acting like a man, she had no reason to show him any mercy.

Paul had been out all day and didn't
return home until late that night. Usually, his mother, Barbara Ruiz, would be asleep by now. But to his surprise, when he entered the house, the living room was brightly lit.

Barbara rushed toward him as soon as she saw him. "Finally, you're home! I've been waiting for you since dinner time. I've been waiting all this time."
"Mom, why wait for me? What time is it? You should be asleep by now," Paul said, looking at Barbara helplessly.
Though Barbara had aged, she still maintained a youthful and beautiful appearance, with only a few gray hairs betraying the years that had passed since his disappearance a few years back.
"I went to the church and got you a bracelet. I had to wait in line all afternoon for it. They said it'll protect you and even bring you good luck with women. You should wear it," Barbara said eagerly, trying to slip the bracelet onto Paul's wrist.
What do you think?
