My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 1621

Ruth didn't want to be locked up in here. She needed to get out as soon as possible.

"Do you know how many years one could be sentenced for abducting and extortion?" Steven's gaze was sharp as he stared at Ruth.

Through her, he could already picture Finn and Miriam in his mind.

Before, there hadn't been much of an opportunity to act, but now that Ruth had handed him one. This time, he would ensure Ruth understood the consequences of messing with his family.

Ruth's eyes widened. "How many years? What are you talking about? I'm your sister. I've just been short on cash lately and thought this would pressure you into giving me some money. I didn't do anything to Mona. She's perfectly fine! You wouldn't send me to jail, would you? I'm your sister."

She hadn't grasped how serious the consequences could be. In her mind, she had done nothing wrong. It was Mona and the others who were overreacting.

Throughout her life, Ruth had done far worse-hurting classmates so severely they developed mental illnesses-yet she had never faced real punishment. Now, she couldn't understand why Mona was left untouched while she had to bear the brunt of the fallout.

Steven remained expressionless. "You should spend your time reflecting there."

He was determined to make Ruth pay the highest price for what she had done.

Ruth started to feel the first hints of fear. "But I'm your sister. Are you out of your mind? Don't you know what you're doing? Just tell the police it was a misunderstanding, and I can get out of here. Are you really going to do this to me over Mona?

"You're my brothers-why are you doing this to me? I didn't do anything wrong. If Dad comes back and finds out you're locking me up in prison over a joke, he'll be furious. He'll never acknowledge you again. I'll hate you all for the rest of my life."

She couldn't go to prison. If she did, she would lose everything her freedom, her youth.

She still dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family and entering the entertainment industry, where money and fame awaited her. She belonged there, not in a cell.

But Steven didn't seem to hear a word she said. Her protests were nothing more than background noise to him.noveldrama

Standing up, he made to leave. Ruth banged on the glass.

"Don't go! You can't leave me here. Let's talk this out. Why do you hate me so much? Is it because Dad stopped wanting you all when we were kids? Do you hate me because of that?

"I didn't even know anything about it. Dad didn't do anything wrong. He and my mom were in love back then-true love isn't wrong. You can't transfer your hatred for Dad onto me. That's not fair!

"I went through so much just to get a kidney transplant. My health is still fragile, and now you want to lock me

up for years? That's no different than killing me. Steven, we share the same blood! Half of me is you. You can't just abandon me!" Ruth shouted in panic and anger.

But her words fell on deaf ears. Steven didn't stop, didn't even glance back.

Ruth watched in disbelief as he

walked away, disappearing from her view entirely. It was as though a cold bucket of water had been dumped over her, forcing her to confront the reality of her situation.

It was over. This time, she was finished.

She suddenly regretted coming back to Jipsburg. She regretted provoking Steven and the others. "I regret it! truly regret it. Officer, please tell my brother and the others I'm sorry. I swear I'll never do it again! I mean it!"

The officer remained unfazed. "Be quiet."

The incident with Ruth abducting Mona came to an end. There was enough evidence, and the court's ruling was only a matter of time.

However, what Skylar hadn't anticipated was that Paul had gotten into trouble.
