Chapter 27
Jasper wanted to know everything about the woman he met five years ago, including her family. In the past few days, he kept mistaking other women for her.
Perhaps it had been too long, so his memory of that woman was distorted. He seemed to find her shadow in unrelated people. Constantly seeking a certain familiarity was frustrating. He couldn't let himself go on like this.
Knowing her personal information and her family could help him distinguish between her family members and unrelated people.
If it concerned her family, he would show his utmost generosity. As for unrelated people who wanted to hook up with him, he would show them no mercy!
Upon hearing Jasper's words, Edith went silent. She followed Jasper into the office, and watched him take a seat. There was nervousness and panic in her eyes, but she tried her best to stay calm and not let her nerves show. Tyson entered. He glanced at the documents in her hand, and said, "Ms. Price, let me take care of the rest."
Edith returned to her senses. What she had in her hands was the family background of the four children.
Due to her nerves, she clutched the documents tightly. The edges were crumpled.
If she was the person in charge, she could prevent Jasper from knowing the identity of the children's mother. If Tyson took over, she feared...
Tyson took the documents from her. "Ms. Price, you seem very tired. Did you not have enough rest?"
He had said that out of concern, because Edith's complexion looked terrible.
Edith hurriedly said, "I'm fine. I don't need more rest. Please excuse me. I need to finish my work."
She turned and left the office.
She didn't need a vacation. Jasper originally planned to suspend her for three months, but she managed to get it reduced to three days.
It was hard for Edith to imagine what would happen if Willow stayed by Jasper's side every day, without her to monitor things.
Tyson looked at Edith's back, puzzled. He asked Jasper, "Is there something wrong with Ms. Price?"
He only showed her his concern, but she overreacted.
Jasper glanced at Tyson sharply, but didn't answer. How could he understand what was going through a woman's mind?
Being on the receiving end of Jasper's gaze, Tyson scratched his nose resentfully. He stopped gossiping, and buried himself in the documents.
When Willow got home, she opened the door. She saw four little cuties surrounding the dining table, munching on French fries.
Julian was the first to see her. His childish eyes lit up, and he said happily, "Mommy's back!"
Three cute voices soon rang in unison. "Mommy!"
Willow's heart melted at the sound. Suddenly, all her exhaustion and sadness disappeared. She regained her strength.noveldrama
"Hey, sweeties! Mommy's back." Willow's voice was gentle, and she was smiling sweetly.
Julian climbed down from the chair, ran to Willow's side, and hugged her leg. "Mommy, hug me."
Willow squatted and caressed his face. Love and warmth filled her as she felt his soft skin. "Okay, let's hug."
A chubby little hand stretched out, and pushed Julian away. Hailey got into Willow's arms, her furry little head arched against Willow's chest. She said softly, "Mommy, my turn! I'm your little padded jacket. I'm warm. Hug me!" Willow lowered her head and kissed Hailey's chubby little face. It was soft and tender, suffused with a milky fragrance.
Unable to resist herself, Willow kissed Hailey's round face again. "My little padded jacket isn't just warm, but she smells good too."
"Mommy, I'm your worn-out jacket! I'm worn-out because I've been protecting you from the wind," Julian said, scrambling for her favor. Willow smiled, and patted his head lovingly.
What do you think?
