Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 511

Greta was feeling utterly frustrated. "I'm not sick," she insisted, trying to keep her voice steady. The doctor continued, "Has she ever shown signs of hearing or seeing things that aren't there?"

Cameron thought back to her odd comments earlier and nodded. "Yeah, she did say some weird stuff today. But before this, she never had any issues. So, I'm not sure if she's really delusional." "Was there any kind of stress yesterday?" the doctor asked.

Cameron hesitated, then admitted, "Well, I did bring up divorce yesterday."

The doctor nodded knowingly. "The talk of divorce and today's behavior suggest that this might be her first episode triggered by stress. A little medication should help manage it quickly." Cameron let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "Alright, can you give her a prescription?"

As the doctor left, he paused, a bit hesitant. "Mr. Dawson, if your wife is diagnosed with a mental illness, divorcing her could get complicated." He gave Greta a meaningful glance. Greta's mind sparked with a thought.

When the doctor left, Cameron's tall frame seemed to sag a little. He pulled up a stool and sat in front of Greta, his eyes vacant, his expression weary. "Greta, oh Greta, did I owe you something in a past life that you're haunting me now? I finally muster the resolve to leave, and you come down with a mental illness."

Legally, divorcing someone with a mental illness isn't straightforward.

Greta's eyes were dark and intense. She opened her mouth, only to feel how dry it was. "Can I get a glass of water?"

Cameron was taken aback. "You're actually being polite to me?"

Greta replied, "I'm still a person, you know. I have my dignity. How can I cling to you when you're trying so hard to shake me off like I'm some sticky tape?"

"Yeah, we're definitely not a good match," Cameron agreed.

Greta sighed deeply. "When you're in love, everything works. When you're not, nothing does." Cameron fell into silence.

Greta sighed again, more heavily this time. "Cameron, it's no shock to me that Nathan's got the upper hand. He's way more cunning than you, far more ruthless. He's not your average guy, he's..."

Cameron frowned, puzzled. "He's what?"

"What kind of secret?" Cameron asked, looking disheartened.

Cameron's jaw dropped, disappointment etched on his face.

Greta went on, "It's just a shame that now, with this mental illness label, no one will believe what I say."

"If you make sense, of course, we'll listen," Cameron assured her. "You're just at the beginning stages, and it's only temporary."

"I'm telling you, I'm not sick. Nathan's made it look that way so nobody would take me seriously, keeping his secret safe," Greta argued.

Cameron remained firm in his belief that she was ill, knowing that denial was a classic symptom.

His patience was clearly wearing thin. "Greta, you really should get some rest," he said finally.
