Chapter 185
At that moment, Patrick, with a frosty demeanor, tossed Sandy in front of Dahlia. "Sandy," he said.
Dahlia gasped, quickly wrapping Sandy in a protective embrace. Her face was etched with worry. "Are you alright? Let me see, sweetheart."
She rolled up Sandy's sleeve, revealing bruises on her arm from Patrick's grip. Seeing this, Dahlia's eyes welled up, and her lips trembled as silent tears spilled down her cheeks. Without a word, she managed to convey everything she wanted Charles to understand. Patrick surveyed Dahlia and Sandy, his voice dripping with disdain. "Take your little bastard and leave. Don't tarnish the Jenkins family name."
"Charles..." Dahlia clung to Sandy, her face full of sorrow, tears cascading down her cheeks as she looked at Charles through misty eyes.
Sandy, nestled in Dahlia's arms, was sobbing, her head shaking like a bobblehead. "Sandy isn't a bastard! She's not!"
The pain in Charles' eyes grew deeper, and he moved towards Dahlia and Sandy.
Evelyn, witnessing the scene, felt her anger bubbling over. Since Dahlia and Sandy had returned, similar scenarios had unfolded multiple times. Each time, Charles chose to side with them over her and Charlie.
She worried Charles might be swayed again by Dahlia and her manipulative daughter. He refused to even glance at the paternity test report.
So, Evelyn swiftly picked the report up from the floor and blocked Charles' path, forcing him to confront the truth.
Thrusting the report in his face, her eyes blazing with anger, she exclaimed, "Charles, open your eyes and see the truth. Sandy isn't your daughter!"
Dahlia saw Evelyn halt Charles, and she discreetly pinched Sandy's waist. This wasn't the first time Sandy had played this role; she knew her part well.
Sandy immediately turned to Evelyn, her face a picture of innocence and sorrow. "Daddy said I'm his most loved daughter. Ms. Evelyn, why would you say I'm not my daddy's daughter?"
The words "most loved daughter" hit Evelyn hard, and tears threatened to spill. She didn't argue with a five-year-old over something so complex. Instead, she directed her focus back to Charles. "Charles, are you blind?"
Seeing no shift in Charles'
expression, Evelyn's eyes grew
redder, her grip on the paternity test
trembling. Desperate to get justice for Charlie, she took a deep breath,
trying to calm her fury.
"If you don't believe me and think I'm framing Dahlia and her daughter, you can take Sandy for a paternity test yourself..."noveldrama
"No need!" Charles cut her off firmly. "Evelyn, this ends here. Don't bring it up again! I'll say it one last time. Sandy is my daughter!"
Hearing Charles' blatant denial, Evelyn couldn't hold back her anger any longer. "Your daughter? It's right here in black and white. Sandy is not your "
"Evelyn, shut up!" Charles shouted.
He looked at Sandy, sobbing as if she might pass out. His expression hardened. He snatched the report from Evelyn's hand, tore it to skreds, and threw them to the ground.
Evelyn stood there, stunned, her eyes glued to the scattered pieces. Charles heard Sandy's
heart-wrenching cries, turned away from Evelyn, strode over to Daklia and Sandy, and knelt down beside them.
