The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 144

Sena was fuming after being called brainless. "Who are you calling brainless?" she snapped.

"Obviously, you," Evelyn retorted. "You're treating someone who just stood by and watched you fall into the inferno without lifting a finger like your sister. Isn't that just ridiculous?"

Sena was taken aback, not quite grasping what Evelyn was getting at. What did Evelyn mean by watching her fall without doing anything? Instinctively, she turned to look at Dahlia.

Dahlia remembered the moment she watched Michael drag Sena into the room and did nothing. She had indeed done it deliberately, desperate to see Sena destroyed. But she quickly composed herself, keeping her face impassive. She had already arranged for someone to handle the surveillance footage.

At the time, Evelyn had been drugged, and Brooks had taken her away. No one else was around. Dahlia thought Evelyn must've been bluffing. With this realization, she put on an innocent and confused look, shaking her head at Sena. She even turned to Charles, wearing a face full of unjustified grievances.

"Don't think you can drive a wedge between us. Dahlia has always been...," Sena started. Her resolve wavered for a moment before Dahlia's innocent expression got to her. Just as she was about to trust Dahlia again, Evelyn tapped on her phone screen. She brought up a short video from her private investigator and shoved it in Sena's face.

Sena's words got caught in her throat. She couldn't believe her eyes, thinking she must have seen it wrong, and grabbed Evelyn's phone. Her gaze locked onto the screen, fixated on Dahlia's face.

It was indeed Dahlia. When Michael dragged her into the room, Dahlia stood not far away at the emergency exit, just as Evelyn had said, watching it all with cold detachment. At that moment, Sena felt her world crumble.

After being dragged in by Michael,

she was left with no way to cry for help, and had to endure torment. She lost her virginity and became unworthy of Brooks. All this was due to the betrayal of the person she trusted most. Sena felt a surge of madness overwhelm her

The most heartbreaking part was knowing that this whole ordeal could have been avoided. If Dahlia hadn't just stood by and called for help, none of this would have happened. Sena's assault was all because of Dahlia. It was all Dahlia's fault.

Suddenly, Sena turned and lunged at Dahlia. "Dahlia, you traitor!" she yelled.

She moved so swiftly that Dahlia, still pondering what Evelyn had shown Sena, couldn't react in time and was pushed over onto a coffee table covered with wine glasses. Wine spilled all over her.

Sena straddled her, raising her hand, and frantically slapped her face back and forth. "Slap! Slap!" "Slap! Slap!" A barrage of seven slaps, each landing heavily on Dahlia's face, left her dazed and unable to respond.

It took a moment for Dahlia to snap out of it. Charles was the first to react, shouting, "Dahlia!" But just as he was about to rush over, Evelyn stepped in, blocking his way.

It was a real ɖog-eat-dog spectacle.

Evelyn loved watching it unfold. She never actually planned to send Sena to the police. She didn't want to blow things up or worry Rosa. Sena had already received her punishment. Her saying she'd take Sena to the police was just a bluff. She knew Dahlia would try to stop it.

Charles' eyes turned cold as he looked at Evelyn, his strong hand gripping her shoulder and pulling her aside.noveldrama
