Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 100

"I'm sorry, Clara." Wren's voice cracked as he buried his face in his hands. His pain was palpable, and his words trembled with regret. "Whether you believe it or not, I never meant to hurt you."

Clara shook her head gently, her tone resolute but calm. "It doesn't matter anymore. Let's leave it at that. You stay in Phoypolis, I'll stay here.

"We'll both move on. There's no need to see each other again."

"I can't accept that," Wren said, panic rising in his voice. He stepped forward, desperate to bridge the growing chasm between them. "Clara, please don't be so cold-hearted."

However, Clara simply smiled. It was a bittersweet expression that seemed to cut deeper than her words. She stepped backward and out of his reach, and without saying another word, she walked to the door. She then slipped on her shoes, opened the door, and left.

Wren stood frozen, watching her retreating figure through the open door. She was just a few steps away, but it felt like an entire world separated them-it was a distance he could no longer cross.

Clara never turned back. As she opened the gate, she saw Alexander standing outside. She paused, slightly surprised.

"Alexander, good morning."

Alexander glanced past her into the house, where he saw Wren inside. His gaze softened as it landed back on her pale face.noveldrama

"Are you okay?" he asked, his tone sincere.

Clara forced a smile. "I'm fine."

Alexander didn't look convinced. "If you don't want to deal with him, I can help."

Clara shook her head, declining the offer with a gentle firmness. "This is between me and him. I don't want to drag anyone else into it."

She looked at Alexander apologetically and continued, "I won't be back for lunch today. You'll have to fend for yourself."

"Got it," Alexander replied. "I'm feeling much better now anyway, thanks to you taking care of me for these past few days." His voice carried a hint of shyness, and his ears reddened as he glanced away. Clara didn't notice his awkwardness. She simply smiled. "That's good to hear. I'll see you later."

She was about to leave when Alexander stopped her. "Clara."

She turned back. Alexander hesitated for a moment before stepping closer. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I, uh... I wanted to apologize for how I treated you when we first met. I was out of line. I'm sorry." Clara blinked, slightly taken aback. Then, she smiled, her tone light as she said, "It's all water under the bridge now."

Alexander still looked a little uneasy. "Well, if you ever need help with anything, let me know. And, uh, if you have time, maybe you could teach me how to cook?"

Clara tilted her head. "Teach you to cook? What brought this on?"

Alexander chuckled nervously, avoiding her gaze. "I just figured... you're busy teaching and doing so much. I feel bad making you cook all the time. If it's a hassle, forget what I asked."

"It's no trouble," Clara replied with a soft laugh. "How about Saturday? I'll show you then."

Alexander's face lit up with a grin. "Deal." With that settled, he waved her off. "Don't let me keep you. Go, you'll be late."

Clara nodded and pedaled away on her scooter.

At school, Clara walked into the office and immediately noticed Ryan sitting at his desk. As she stepped in, he looked up, and their eyes met. She couldn't just ignore him. "Good morning, Mr. Chase."

His face lit up with a smile, and he got up to approach her. "Good morning, Ms. Salford. Yesterday, you left in such a hurry.

"Mr. Miller came by later, asking for you. He said your brother was here looking for you. Did you see him when you left?"

Clara froze for a moment, caught off guard. She hadn't expected her coworkers to know about Wren's visit.

Not wanting to get into her personal matters, she simply nodded. "Yes, I met him," she said lightly, walking over to her desk to avoid further conversation.
