Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 102

It took a while before a reply finally came through. There were only a few words.

"Not coming back for now. Wait for my update."

Liam sighed in resignation, and unease settled in his chest. This probably meant things weren't going smoothly with bringing Clara back. Could it be that she didn't want to return with Wren?

The thought crossed his mind but was quickly dismissed.

Wren had raised Clara. She cared deeply for him, and ever since childhood, he had always been the person she was closest to. Since Wren had personally gone to bring her back, how could she possibly refuse?

Liam had to be overthinking it. He put his phone down after replying to Wren. He then shook off the worry and threw himself into his work.

At the Zachman residence, the atmosphere at the dining table was tense. Martha sat upright at the head of the table, with Katrina to her right. Standing nearby were Shirley and Ivy.

...

The mother and daughter suppressed their resentment, forcing themselves to keep their expressions neutral.

However, Martha had no intention of letting them off the hook so easily. She glanced at them with subtle disdain, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she spoke, "Having two vixens in the house this early in the morning really ruins the mood." Shirley and Ivy turned pale, their palms reddened from their nails digging into their skin, but they held back from responding.

Martha acted oblivious to their discomfort and turned to Katrina as if casually chatting, though her words dripped with mockery. "Katrina, you're too soft-hearted, which is why people feel they can walk all over you.

"Look at this family. Some people have no shame. I had said my piece yesterday, yet they still dare to cling to our family. Do they even know their place? Do they think they deserve to live here?

"They even want to sit at the same

table as us. Do they ever stop to think if they're worthy? They've never contributed a single penny yet expect the Zachman family's household staff to wait on them. These shameless vixens think they're the lady of the house!

"The older one is bad enough, but the younger one is just as terrible. Their presence has tainted our family. And now they want to drag my grandson down with them. As long as I'm here, they can keep dreaming!" Katrina listened quietly, but inwardly, she couldn't help but feel a bit satisfied.

Because of Carlisle's constant defense of Shirley, Katrina had endured years of frustration in this household. She had considered retaliating, but each time she did," Carlisle would strike back by suppressing her company, Hayworth Corporation.

Left with no choice, she swallowed her pride and ignored Shirley's provocations. Over time, she found herself caring less and less as the incidents piled up.

Every word Martha spoke hit not just

Shirley and Ivy but also resonatednoveldrama

with the household staff. Her deliberate humiliation of the mother and daughter stirred subtle

emotions among them. The

realized her words weren't just

insults. They were a warning.

It wasn't just a warning for Shirley and Ivy but also a message to the household staff, reminding them who the true lady of the Zachman family was.

It wasn't Shirley, who was pampered by Carlisle but had no title or standing. It was Katrina, the legitimate lady of the house.

Those maids who had previously tried to curry favor with Shirley and disrespected Katrina now felt growing fear. They worried that with Martha in charge, they might soon be dismissed from the household. After all, Martha was Carlisle's biological mother. Even Carlisle couldn't defy her, let alone Shirley.

What was Shirley anyway? Just a mistress who couldn't even show her face in public.
