Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 119

Wren glanced at Alexander and took the pain relief sprays from the latter. "Thanks."

"No need. It's not for you," Alexander replied, his voice a bit hesitant as he glanced past Wren toward the stairs. "Is she alright?"

"I'll take care of her." Wren blocked his gaze, his eyes filled with possessiveness.

Alexander studied him momentarily, wanting to say something but swallowing his words. In the end, he only said, "If she needs anything, have her contact me. I'll be going now." With that, Alexander left and closed the door behind him.

Wren tucked the bottles into his pocket, then went to the kitchen to dampen the towels, placing them in the fridge to chill. He also prepared a few cold ones.

He'd been listening to the sounds from upstairs, and when he heard the bathroom door open, he took out the chilled towel and headed up.

Clara was leaning against the wall, limping slowly toward the bed.

Wren lifted her into his arms and gently placed her on the bed. He pulled the covers over her, leaving only her injured foot exposed.

Sitting down at the edge of the bed, Wren grabbed her calf and rested her foot on his leg.noveldrama

Clara was taken aback, and discomfort flashed in her eyes. It had been a long time since she had been so physically close to him, and she wasn't used to it. Instinctively, she tried to pull her foot away.

"Don't move," Wren said gently, pressing her foot down as he neatly folded the towel and placed it on her swollen ankle.

The coldness of the towel made Clara feel uneasy, but Wren's demeanor made her even more uncomfortable.

Whenever she was sick or hurt in the past, Wren would always drop everything to take care of her. But that had all stopped after she confessed to him when she turned 18 years old. Since then, all the warmth and special treatment he'd given her had disappeared. He no longer took care of her the way he once had. As a result, she had grown unaccustomed to his closeness.

Now, his care felt almost like in the past, as if nothing had ever changed between them and the four years of painful memories hadn't happened at all.

Clara looked at him, a mix of emotions crossing her face. She sat up and gently pressed his hand down. "Thank you, but I can do this myself. You should go rest in your room."

"You're not in a condition to do it

yourself. I've always taken care of you when you were sick or injured since you were a child. Why are you suddenly shy about it now?" Wren said firmly.

Clara felt a bit helpless. "I used to be inconsiderate by troubling you. But really, it's nothing. I'll be fine after some rest."

"You've troubled me more times than I can count since you were little. Now you want to hold that against me?" Wren's expression was cold.

"If you don't take care of this injury properly, you won't be able to walk tomorrow. Are you planning on skipping school and work?"

Clara could tell he was angry.

He was angry because she preferred to suffer through the pain herself rather than ask for his help because she'd pushed him away.

But wasn't it Wren who had pushed

her away first? He was the one who'd said those things to her, and she had only accepted them and acted accordingly. Why was he still angry now?

Clara lowered her gaze and said flatly, "It was just an accident."

"This wouldn't have happened if you'd asked for my help," Wren murmured.

Clara frowned slightly, struggling to believe Wren would say something so unreasonable. She hadn't expected anything like this to happen when she went to check the electrical panel.

It had happened so suddenly-she'd accidentally stepped on the edge of the stool, causing it to tip, and she'd fallen. But the moment she started to fall she reacted quickly and

caught herself in time, so it was only a sprain.

It had hurt a lot at the time, but it wasn't as bad as it seemed now that she'd rested.

However, Clara didn't know how to explain all this to Wren. He'd find something to argue against it no matter what she said. The room then fell into an uncomfortable silence.
