Chapter 1277
Willy got up and walked over to her, hugging her from behind, but he had a hard time speaking, choking up for a long while.
Lauren raised her head to swallow her tears back. She couldn't understand why she had become so crazy, so unlike herself, even becoming someone she despised for a man when she had been non-indulgent her whole life!
At that moment, both their hearts were greatly stirred...
Willy tightened his hug and planted a deep kiss on her hair. "Laurie, had it never occurred to you that... If my feelings for you are all just an act, why would I spend so many years looking, waiting for you?"
Lauren suddenly turned around and sneered, still raging.
"Were you waiting for me? Huh... You men can casually say you're waiting for any woman as long as marriage isn't on the agenda, isn't it? Are you also actually waiting for the woman living in here when you still haven't settled down after so many years, Mr. Bowles?"
Lauren's anger elevated as she poked his heart.
"Are you going to tell me next that you went on a blind date, fight over a woman in the nightclub, and booked a pair of twin sisters because you're so distraught from missing me that you went to heal your heart, or was that all just for show? Do you think I'll trust you ever again, Willy?"
"Do you know what it feels like to have your heart trampled over when you put it out there so sincerely? Do you know how hurt I was when I joyously dressed up despite my pregnant belly to spend my birthday with the man I loved only to learn I was a worthless and easily forsaken betting prize? Do you know how hopeless I felt when I fell on the streets, in dire pain, gradually feeling like I was going to lose Yvette? She was born with severe jaundice. Do you know how guilty and sad I felt when I saw her yellow skin? And it was all because I researched your formula, got all emotional and depressed because of you during the pregnancy! The 'little witch' you called loved snakes so much because they're cold-blooded, and because of her condition, she's instinctively drawn to cold things! And this is all no thanks to you!"
Tears streamed down her face like a never-ending waterfall as she got more and more worked up. She thought she had already left it all in the past, only to realize she had only shoved it into a deep corner in her heart.
"Laurie..." "Don't call me that! You don't deserve to call me by that name. You had utterly destroyed Lauren, forcing her to return to the birthplace she hated so much and going back to becoming the young lady of the Luther family she didn't want to! Doesn't feel nice to be lied to, does it, Willy? This is what you get for messing with women! Let's face it; you're no different. Even you would choose the prestigious Yesmine Luther over the lowly Lauren Heady."
Lauren scoffed, her tears uncontrollable at that point.
"Sincerity means nothing to a man, doesn't it? It sure is nice to be affluent. Look, even the mighty Mr. Bowles was dumped. What can you do about it? Do you dare do anything to me?"
She closed her eyes, seething with hatred.
"I hate you only because I feel sad for Lauren! She gave you the best years of her life, but she was still incomparable to the prestigious Yesmine Luther. You were going to propose to Tevye, weren't you? But all you gave Lauren were deceit, lies, and harm! Willy Bowles, you don't have a heart, and you don't deserve happiness! You're not the reason I won't let Yvette hate you. If I can, I really want all her blood to come from me and I alone!" Willy pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly, teary-eyed then. "Laurie, I didn't know... you've misunderstood me so badly!"
Had they sowed seeds of tragedy from the very beginning? Fortunately, he had really given her a baby, or today...
He took a deep breath before continuing.
"That bet was a joke from before I even really knew you. No one took it seriously; I had even forgotten about it. The birthday party in Roman Western Restaurant, your birthday, I had wanted to propose to you back then! I already had everything ready and even invited all our friends and family to witness, but you blew me off waited for you three ful days and nights there. Laurie, Ididn't base my decision to be responsible to you on your background. I got you pregnant, of course, I have to bear the responsibility. But perhaps I shouldn't have constantly thought of giving you surprises, preparing everything behind your back. If I told you sooner, you might not have doubted my love for you. I had you in mind when I chose the venue, the ring, and even the time..."
Willy subconsciously felt his neck only to remember he took the ring, which he used to keep on his neck, off after Tevye appeared.
"If I wasn't almost certain Tevye was
indeed Lauren, if it wasn't that I was afraid of losing you again, if you didn't constantly provoke me, I wouldn't have touched you. Did you know, the Lauren I lost and the doppelganger, Tevye, who appeared out of nowhere, nearly drove me insane? I was even nearly depressed at one point, trapped in the two feelings I couldn't distinguish. That's why I was blowing hot and cold. You're right; I'm an ordinary man. But I have a heart too. I have someone I love; I have feelings too, Laurie. It's not that I don't have boundaries or that I'm not afraid of death, and hell, by no means am I interested in every woman! I'm not the father of Cloud's children. Back then, I genuinely only pitied her when I saw her raising two sick kids on her own. After you left, for some reason, whenever I saw her kids, our baby would pop up in my mind, and I'd wish someone would show up and help you out as I did for Cloud when I couldn't be there for you. It's only then I can be in peace with myself!"
Willy was about to be engulfed in sorrow as he hugged Lauren tightly.
"Laurie, I have never developed such a close relationship with any woman. Yes, I first went to you with an agenda, but I meant it when I said
I'd marry you didn't expect and didn't deal with a lot of the things well, but it's really just because I didn't have the experience, and it never occurred to me; I really wasn't lying to you! You never left my mind in the past three years. I've never stopped looking for you. I'd go to that rose room in Roman Western Restaurant every year on your birthday... Yes, I forced myself into your life, but you've seeped into mine as well. Laurie, my life changed because of you! I love you, truly. I've never loved any woman so much..."
Her feelings muddled, Lauren began having trouble setting her mind straight, covering her ears, evidently resistant.
"I'm not listening! You're clearly cajoling me again... Perhaps even you don't realize the person you can't get over is Cloud. Or how could you have spaced out in Pte villa and locked yourself up in your study and look at that stupid cloud lamp? Why would you buy that cloud pearl earring? Why would you abandon me, a pregnant woman, in the rain to keep another woman's child company?"
"I don't want to hear your blandishments. Let go of me!"
Seeing that her shoves were futile, she then threw punches at him. "You're lying; it's all a lie! I won't believe you ever again!"
"Laurie!"noveldrama
Willy clasped her shoulders and wanted to say more when a light force hit his leg, and a bawl followed.
"Let go of my mommy! Don't touch my mommy!
Wah..."
