With those words, he pressed his hand firmly over her heart. He was infuriatingly stubborn and incredibly assertive, yet his gaze was so intense, so full of passion, that Selena's heart skipped a beat before she could stop it. Everett had no intention of letting her off easily. He pinned her hands down and interlocked their fingers, raising his head slightly to watch her squirm with discomfort. He spoke deliberately.

Everett took it all in stride; if he cared about dignity, Selena might not have been in his bed at that moment.
