Chapter 2221
Alda scowled as she did not expect to be used like a pawn, and so despicably at that.
Still, it was also understandable as Frank had put it from the perspective of nature, humankind was the dominant species but was no different from ants despite their superior intelligence.
And their so-called sciences were even more insignificant to nature the rupturing of tectonic plates that occurred every other day had greater destructive force than every nuclear bomb put together.
"There are times when we're pitiful, now that I think about it."
Alda sighed in disappointment. "The living amount to nothing and have to suffer nature's scorn at that."
"No point complaining about reality. Just stick to being yourself," Frank said.
While Alda was no longer moping after Frank's advice, Pax was shocked by Frank's words.
Like Frank had posited, he was one of the individuals whom Sally York had invested in.
However, he had come too late to get anything really of value, which was why he ended up insignificant in Sally's perspective.
He had heard Sally speaking on the spiritron vein too but still did not expect something like this.
The spiritron vein had actually used Alda as a medium to find the best owner it could have? If he had known that something like that would happen,
he would have made a better effort, and who knew if he would perhaps be as strong as Frank now.
That being said, it was also likely that Alda's illness was itself a trial, and only the one who could overcome it would deserve the ring.
Either way, Pax envied Frank, just as he looked forward to what other surprises Frank was capable of.
Meanwhile, Frank and Alda had barely been walking for a while when they saw a door.
They were just going to knock on it when it was opened, and none other than Sally stepped out.
Alda was stunned, while Pax was frowning as he turned toward the goons behind him. "What is she doing here?"
They all shook their heads, clearly unaware that she was there.
One even strode up and said, "We've been keeping a close eye on everything around us, but we didn't notice anyone suspicious!"
Pax smirked but said nothing-it was unlikely for his goons to betray him, especially when there was security footage.
The only explanation was that Sally did not come in through the front, but through a tunnel.
To no surprise, when Pax switched to the cameras behind the door, he found a gaping hole.
However, that begged another question-how did Sally find out about his plans? And if she showed up here, would that not mean that his plans were moot?
On the other side, Sally was smiling as she hovered around Frank. "Long time no see, handsome. What are you spacing out for? Aren't you going to greet me?"
Frank snorted. "What are you doing here?"
Sally shrugged. "I went out of my way to come save you when I heard that you're in trouble, but I guess
Stuff of this level would never hold you
wasjust being paranoid gues
"And since you're fine, I have no reason to stay here. Bye!"
Watching as Sally said nothing else and turned to leave, Pax breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness she was not here to sabotage him, or he really would be helpless. noveldrama
On top of that, he had gone with this plan behind Sally's back, and the fact that she was not blaming him meant that she was sparing his life.
That was when Sally suddenly said, "By the way... Since we're friends, I feel obliged to warn you."
What do you think?
